Good ideas, baby food....
So, a lot of blogs I know are full of fun and creative recipes and good ideas. I put up some good ideas but not a lot. So, I now put up a good idea to share, but I'm sure that a lot of you have already heard of it.
Baby food is obviously ridiculously expensive. Gerber products average about $1 for every 2 oz., and other brands are a little less but not by much. So, I found a website that offers recipes for homemade baby food as well as this little storage idea. Puree whatever food you would like until it is smooth, steam your veggies beforehand. Then, to store, put the puree in an ice tray. Each frozen cube makes about 1 oz. Here is fresh squash about to go in the freezer...
and here are some peas frozen in their own little cubes. You store them in zip lock bags and they last about a month. When she's hungry, pull out one or two, heat them in a sauce pan or the microwave and you are good to go.
So 24 oz of squash and I only used 1/2 a squash I bought for $0.89 a pound. Big difference.
